I’ll have to write up WHY I left the MS in Data Science program. You’re in for a juicy story with screenshots. But outside of that, “tech/data science/cybersecurity/IT/information assurance/systems engineering whatever the new name will be next year” is dead right now and even if I stayed where I am, they don’t hire entry level workers. I will stay where I am until retirement. I’d be backtracking on the monies. An MBA with a Data Analytics concentration will get me further and I can always pick up analysis work on the side if I want with my newfound skills. I completed the Data Analytics concentration with my Data Science courses so all I have to do now is complete the business courses. Story coming soon…

• Organizations of every size utilize core business functions and concepts such as marketing, human resources, accounting, financial management, economics, information systems, and operations management. Managers must understand these functional areas and the relationships between them in order to competently lead their team within the organization. This foundational course in the MBA program provides this necessary context and sets the stage for students to delve deeper into these concepts throughout their program.

• Instructor Video Quizzes – Students are expected to answer all quiz questions embedded in Instructor Videos. These questions are intended to more fully engage students in viewing instructional content.
• Modules 1-4 Chapter Video Quizzes – Students are expected to complete multiple-choice chapter video quizzes.
• Modules 1-4 Chapter Exercises – Students are expected to complete chapter exercises.
• Modules 1-4 Make Your Decision Assignment - Students are expected to complete decision assignments covering key concepts covered in modules 1-4.
• Chapter Quizzes – Students are expected to complete multiple-choice exams located on Brightspace covering the material in Modules 1-6.
• Module 5 Assignments – Students are expected to complete chapter assignments located in MindTap.
• Faith Integration – Students are expected to complete reflection questions pertaining to the readings and viewings within the faith module.
• Inbound Business Evaluation - This is a standardized exam utilized by business programs around the United States to help universities compare student knowledge of business concepts to other universities that utilize the exam. The exam included in this course is an “inbound” exam (i.e., a “pre-test”) to establish a baseline for student knowledge of business concepts at the start of their time in the program. Students should try their best on this exam, but for course grade purposes, the exam is graded based on completion. In the capstone course at the end of the program, students will take the BUSA 505 The Business Environment College of Business and Leadership “outbound” version of this exam so that the university can quantify how much knowledge students gain while in the program. Students do not need to study or prepare for the inbound exam. Students are welcome to take the exam at any time during the course, but are encouraged to complete the evaluation earlier in the term. Please see the “Student Guide” for more details on the logistics of the exam.

• Completed the 110 question Inbound Business Evaluation exam.

An easy first week. There are only 5 modules so I’ll try and do a module a week with plenty of time to spare. The Inbound Business Evaluation exam was brutal and you can’t click away from the exam. They allow you to re-enter the exam 3 times and only give you 48 hours to complete it. Good thing it’s not graded in case you forget to complete it in time. Stay tuned for week 2…
